Giving Thanks

I am so glad that the end of this week has arrived.
I need some personal time and space to prepare for three days of labor and then it is time to gather up my family and spend the day together. I am looking forward to spending time with my own children and grandchildren.

The baby face of winter is beginning to crown here.
A light dusting of snow was visible yesterday evening.
I have no doubt that The Almighty Hawk is in town and just hasn't made his intentions known to us yet. It was blustery yesterday but I suspect that it is going to be colder than this within the next couple of weeks.

I needed to spend some of my time praying today.
That is why I jumped over here.

Dear God,

I have a lot of tasks to complete over the next few days. If you are granting me the gift of life during this time, would you please bless me to properly pace myself?

I need to be out and about in the city. Please watch over my going out and my coming back in. Please bless my loved ones and friends to be granted safe and secure passage no matter where we go.

Would you please bless me to be patient with myself. I want to feel accomplished-not exhausted from my efforts. Guide and direct me in the way that I should move during this time.

Give me strength. Physical, mental, emotionally and spiritually. Without a replenished supply from your spirit there is nothing that I want to do or need to do that will occur. Bless me to be filled with light and a vision that indicates I am making progress.

Remind me as I move about that the real purpose of giving thanks is not to over indulge in the prepared food on our table. I am thankful that your blessings have been abundant in our lives. I am also thankful that we are able to come together and to enjoy our kinship as one in the flesh and blood.

Temper me to be gracious towards everyone that I encounter. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my God, my strength and my redeemer.

As I lift of prayers for my grandchildren to be able to walk down the path of life with you as their guide, please accept my thanks for my mothers and fathers before me. Surely I have stood on the backs of their prayers and utterances placed before you.

Bless me to be wise and mindful about handling my time and resources.

In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
